Jana and Chris

» Katie

Over the weekend I had the wonderful opportunity of photographing Jana and Chris, and not only capturing the love they have for each other but also their shared artistic natures. Jana and Chris are the perfect marriage of music and architecture so what better place to start our engagement shoot than the Disney Concert Hall in downtown Los Angeles. I love using the environment as the third character in a portrait. I had so many opportunities to incorporate Jana’s love of architecture and Chris’ artistic sensibilities when we visited the Getty for further inspiration. Thanks to Jana and Chris for braving the rain and indulging some of my more off the wall ideas for getting the perfect shot. Check out some of Red Loft Studios favorite images from the day. Congratulations Jana and Chris!

Gary and Tony in the LBC

» Jenny
Jenny

The other day I shot photos for some dear friends of mine, Gary and Tony. They were such great sports while I dragged them through alleyways and busy traffic in downtown Long Beach. They both collect fine art photography so it was important to me to get some really distinct photos. This is the second photo shoot with them and I think they are becoming quite the naturals in front of the camera. I think Tony was secretly a model back in Detroit and he’s trying to hide it from me…Look how stylin’ those boys are…..
Thanks for the fun day guys!

Here are a few of our Red Loft Studios favorites.

The New “Love Boat”

» Katie

Sunday Jenny and I photographed our first wedding of the year aboard the Queen Mary in Long Beach. Monica and Dave chose the Queen Mary because it was important to them to celebrate with their friends and families in the city where they live and play (plus it has some really cool art deco design elements). So we have this really cool couple on a very hip boat what more could we ask for?????? How about a Santa Clause convention! No joke there were hundreds of Santas on board prior to the wedding. It was by far one of the coolest things I have ever seen. Too bad they couldn’t stay to party because they missed a fabulous reception. Monica and Dave lucked out with a beautiful day, an amazing sunset, and a rock’n party……but isn’t that how it always is aboard the Love Boat? Check out some of Red Loft Studios favorite moments of the day. Congratulations to Monica and Dave!

We found an on duty Santa who was more than ready to have his picture taken with Dave.

I was so excited to use the photo booth on board. What a great memento for Monica and Dave’s wedding day.

We are clearly better behind the camera than in front of it. This is hanging up in the studio and we all laugh every time we pass by.
Here is a recipe for a great wedding…….
mix 2 parts cool couple
one part awesome venue (Queen Mary)
one part great dj (www.redshoela.com) to get the party going (I mean they played Dee-Lite “Groove is in the Heart” can’t get better than that)
Shake and Serve for a wedding to remember!

Nikki and Mark

Sunday I had the pleasure of spending the afternoon with Nikki and Mark in San Juan Capistrano. Nikki in her infinite wisdom set us up with a photo shoot at the Mission San Juan Capistrano. The mission itself has been around since 1776 and has gained fame over the years as a haven for Swallows, or as Lloyd in Dumb and Dumber says, “the salmon of Capistrano.” The old Spanish architecture along with the beautiful gardens and grounds provided us with some amazing backdrops. Its a wonderfully romantic spot for photos, thanks Nikki for the suggestion! We then headed down to the beach to catch the sunset. Nikki and Mark’s playful side came out and I could definitely see why these two are made for each other. They cracked me up as they worked hard at making the other bust out laughing. Check out some of Red Loft Studios favorite shots from the afternoon. Congratulations Nikki, Mark!!!!

I met up with Tawnya and Jeff in Santa Ana at the high school where they met and both teach Spanish. I loved being able to photograph the couple where they met and in an environment that really represents who they are. After walking the halls we headed to the artist distric of Santa Ana for some photo ops and a coffee at Tawnya and Jeff’s favorite coffee spot. I had so much fun hanging out with these guys and I am so happy with the way the photos came out. Congratulations Tawnya and Jeff!!!
