Suzette and Johnny

» Katie

Sunday I spent the afternoon at the Huntington Gardens with Suzette and Johnny enjoying the sites and getting some amazing shots of the two of them. Each corner we turned brought so many beautiful opportunities for unique engagement shots. I always enjoying getting to know my clients during the shoots. We get to laugh, share stories, and plan for the wedding day. When we first met I asked Suzette to tell me a bit about her and Johnny. She immediately let me know that they loved sharing laughs and wine. We thought a picnic would be a perfect addition to our photo shoot. I love the shots of Suzette and Johnny kicking back in their element. Congratulations to Suzette and Johnny, I can’t wait to be there for the BIG DAY!!! 100x100px_square.gifRed Loft Studios was honored to be chosen as one of the The Knot’s best of wedding vendors for 2007. Brides from all over the country voted on their favorites and we were one of them. It felt great to be chosen and even better when I opened the magazine and saw one of Katie’s pictures gracing the pages. We love what we do and we want to thank all of you for voting for us!

Ben and Marnie

This past Saturday I headed to the Wayfarers Chapel in Rancho Palos Verdes to photograph Ben and Marnie’s wedding. This chapel is so interesting because it’s made of glass… it really makes for some cool shots. Marnie looked fabulous in her dress and Ben was so handsome in his suit. These two really do make a cute couple. After the ceremony we headed to Marcello’s in San Pedro for the reception. Everyone feasted on Italian cuisine and shook it on the dance floor. And the way this crowd partied, you would have never known it was a day wedding. These folks know how to have a good time. Congratulations Marnie and Ben!

Nuke and Crash Take on North Carolina

» Charity
Charity

Since we were lucky enough to travel across the country to photograph Ben and Becky’s wedding we took the opportunity to soak up some more Southern charm. Being that Bull Durham is one of our favorite movies naturally our first stop was the Durham Bulls stadium. The rain clouds parted long enough to indulge in dogs and funnel cake while enjoying America’s favorite pastime. We headed to Chapel Hill for a bbq dinner and happened upon a performance of one of Katie’s favorites, Hedwig and the Angry Inch. It was the perfect venue a small coffee shop off the beaten path. We couldn’t stop smiling; it was a wonderfully random night. If that wasn’t enough we capped off the night with a Bridezilla marathon on the Oxygen network. Which made us so thankful for our brides. Monday morning we woke up and took a photo adventure in through the woods near Duke University. A wonderful wedding, great food, lots of laughter, new friends, and dozens of memories made. North Carolina will always bring up giggles and hold a special place in our hearts.

We both thought that if we lived here, and jogged, this road would make for a great jogging trail, but since we don’t do either it was a nice drive.

Becky & Ben’s Southern Celebration

» Katie

This past weekend Charity and I traveled to Greensboro North Carolina for Becky and Ben’s wedding. Upon arrival we were greeted with open arms and true Southern hospitality. We felt like part of the family throughout the weekend’s festivities. Every detail of the day spoke to Becky and Ben’s thoughtfully elegant taste. Becky brought in elements of her own Southern background and mixed it with Ben’s family memories. She looked stunning in a veil that had been in Ben’s family for generations which she wore during the ceremony and then changed into her mother’s veil for the reception. As a nod to Becky’s traditions Ben and his groomsmen donned seersucker bow ties and cumberbuns that were a perfect compliment to the custom made dress shirts by Workshop, a company owned by Andrew Turner one of Ben’s childhood friends and groomsmen. The ceremony took place at Becky’s childhood church with a reception in historic district of downtown Greensboro. Friends and family flew in from all over to join the couple in celebration. Laughs, sentiment and a lot of love…even a duet of Johnny Cash’s Reign of Fire by the groom and his friend. This wedding had it all. The fun didn’t stop when the wedding party closed down the hall. They took the festivities with them across the street to a dueling piano bar/tiki hut (can you get more fabulous?) and partied the night away. We felt honored and lucky to be a part of Becky and Ben’s special day. Congratulations you two!

Tiffany and Jarrett Plus One

» Tammy
Tammy

Yesterday I met Tiffany and Jarrett at Leo Carillo to take some maternity photos. I shot their wedding a couple of years ago and now they are expecting a baby girl. How exciting! It was so nice to see them again and see that they are still totally in love. Jarrett is so sweet… he’s really looking forward to fatherhood. And how cute is Tiffany with her little belly? I wish the two of them the best of luck as they become new parents. And I can’t wait to meet the little one.
