Scott, Lisa, Ian and Shona

» Jenny

Last week I ventured out to the Nature Center for another round of family portaits. It was so much fun getting to know the Rines family better. I followed little Ian around the trails as he found turtles, walking sticks, leaves, caterpillars, grasshoppers, and pretty much everything else. It was great to be in such a relaxed environment to catch their family in action. We even ended the session with their beautiful dog joining us. Shona, according to Lisa,is as much a part of the family as anyone else….so cute!

Thanks for the fun time guys!

Alisha and Michael’s tromp around SF!

» Nikki

Last week I had the pleasure of exploring San Fran with Alisha and Michael on their second engagement shoot. We started off at their favorite cafe that Jack Kerouac used to frequent. We then went to Chinatown where I tried my first tasting of duck… it was to my surprise very good! We ended up at the Ferry Building where Alisha and Michael tried some wine and tasted some great bakery treats. From coffee to duck to pastries - we did it all! Congrats you two, I had an amazing time, thanks for being my tour guides around the city!

Sharan and Sachin’s Indian Wedding Weekend

» Jenny

This weekend I photographed the 3 day wedding weekend of Sharan and Sachin. We began the festivities with the Mehndi on Friday night at Sharan’s parent’s house. This gathering was so that Sharan’s female family and friends could gather to get henna designs painted on their hands and feet and give her marriage advice.

On Saturday I was a part of the Sangeet held at a beautiful home in Camarillo. It was a gorgeous backdrop for the second phase of the wedding festivities. There was traditional Indian folk singing, lots of food, and LOTS of dancing!

Sunday was the grand finale of the wedding weekend. The wedding was held and Spanish Hills Country Club in Camarillo. The day began with the Baarat Precession with Sachin arriving on an elaborately adorned horse. Next came the wedding ceremony in the mandap followed by cocktails on the lawn. The reception was where the real fun was had. Just like on Saturday, the dancing was phenominal. Sachin and Sharan love to dance and so do their family and friends. I can’t tell you how much fun I had just being in the middle of the dance floor watching all of the energetic people shaking it up out there!

The Vidaii at the end of the evening was quite emotional. Sharan’s parents sent her off with wishes of a long and harmonious married life. I couldn’t hold back the tears as the two families that I had become so close to over these three days walked Sachin and Sharan out of their reception and on to their new life together.

All Dressed Up for a Day on the Town

The day after Alisha and Michael’s Napa wedding we met up in San Francisco for a second wedding photo shoot.  San Francisco means so much to them as a couple we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to incorporate it into their wedding photos.  We had so much fun finding little nooks, alleyways, and storefronts to use as backdrops for our photos.  Check out some of our Red Loft Studios favorite moments from Alisha and Michael’s day on the town….
We started our adventure at one of their favorite cafes….

Alisha & Michael…Cheers to the Happy Couple

This past weekend Nikki and I joined Alisha and Michael along their friends and family in Napa for a weekend celebration in honor of their wedding. The festivities were held at the Culinary Institute of America at Greystone, and the event was “oh so Alisha and Michael.” Great food, fine wines and a lot of dancing…an awesome event that even Dionysus would want to attend. By far my favorite moments were sharing laughs with Alisha and Michael as they took their post wedding oyster shots, watching the guests dance to sweet grooves from bands such as Dee Lite and Michael Jackson, getting in the photo booth, and tasting the exquisite dishes the staff at Greystone prepared in honor of Alisha and Michael. The barrel room, which was beautifully decorated with monochromatic flowers, cool lounge furniture, and candlelight, was bursting with fun. I know that Alisha and Michael got their dream wedding because the two of them just didn’t stop beaming the whole night. Cheers to Alisha and Michael!

Lacey and Jeff

On Saturday I had the great pleasure of photographing Lacey and Jeff’s wedding at the Altadena Country Club. This is a great location with tons of history and amazing views. It was the perfect place for these two to exchange vows. We were surrounded by breathtaking mountains, clean air, and absolutely delightful weather. After the ceremony we headed inside to the reception where everyone cut a rug. And the DJ even played my alma mater… Rocky Top. I couldn’t help but shake it a little. What a fun blast from the past for me. And what a fun night… I wish the best for Lacey and Jeff. Their love is so visible and genuine. Congratulations on your new family you two!
