Catching up with the Ruitens

» Jenny
Jenny

Today I met the Ruiten family in Laguna to take some family photos. It’s been a few years since I have seen them and boy have they grown! Emily, the 5th grader is almost as tall as me and Cole is all grown up and full of enthusiasm. We had a great time climbing on the rocks, rolling in the sand, and almost getting wet! I’m so glad I get to be a part in documenting their family memories! Thanks for sharing the afternoon with me.

All work and no play makes Cole and Emily…..well….bored!

I had to catch mom and dad alone for a few pictures.

An Old Hollywood wedding at La Quinta Resort

» Jenny

This Saturday I headed down to Palm Desert to the beautiful La Quinta Resort to photograph the wedding of Meredith and Ryan. The inspiration for their day was Old Hollywood meets gourmet BBQ. Meredith looked every bit the part of a 1940’s actress in her flowing white dress adorned with sparkling jewels. The bridesmaid’s complimented Meredith perfectly in classic black dresses and 1940’s style hair. Ryan was quite the handsome groom with his tailored suit and horseshoe cufflinks (A popular Irish wedding tradition is to give horseshoes as wedding gifts…good job Meredith!). The grounds were elegantly decorated with tables draped in black and white linens, porcelain vases filled with yellow lilis, and tables named after famous Hollywood couples. They even had a vintage photobooth as well as classic Hollywood movies projected on the side of the hacienda for all of their guests to watch. It was a beautiful ceremony and reception filled with family and friends who toasted, danced, and even sang, to celebrate Meredith and Ryan’s marriage. It was such a great time and we wish you both a happy and healthy new life together!

The ceremony was held at St. Francis Church.

WE Entertainment was on hand to film the wedding for a show that will be airing in a few months.

Here are some details from the day….

Quincy’s Red Loft Studios debut

» Jenny
Jenny

This weekend while I was up in San Francisco, I had the pleasure of hanging out with little Quincy and snapping some shots of her for her first ever, Red Loft photo shoot. Daddy wasn’t able to make it (next time we’re definitely putting him in some photos) so it was just mommy, Quincy and I. It was a lot of fun roaming around in the fall leaves and literally chasing after the ever so active Quincy (it’s a great way to work up a sweat!). She’ll be turning 2 in a month so it was the perfect time to document her last days as a 1 year old. Thanks for playing with me and being such a good sport Quincy!

Harvey family fun!

» Jenny

I recently photographed the Harvey family again and this time we decided to shoot in Seal Beach because of the fires affecting the air in Orange County. It was a great choice because the sky was a dramatic backdrop for the beach shots we got. Addison has grown so much since the last time I photographed their family. She even has her ears pierced!!! We had so much fun running around the beach and laughing as we bribed Addison with the promise of ice cream at the end of the shoot. She really smiled big when I asked her to show me her ice cream face. Good job Addison, and good job mom and dad with raising such a sweet girl. I’m so happy I was a part of your family memories again.

The Bride of Batman

On Saturday I headed to Gotham City…I mean Downtown Los Angeles to photograph the wedding of two extremely fun people. No, it wasn’t really Wonder Woman and Batman, but Rachel and Zach. The superhero couple exchanged vows at the ever so cool Cicada. The art deco/gothic feel to the location lent itself to the vibe that Rachel and Zach wanted to create for their guests. It truly felt as if we were all in a Gotham City hall and that at any moment Robin, The Boy Wonder would stand up and toast the lovely couple. Lucky for us The Joker didn’t make an appearance and everyone had a great time singing, dancing, and hitting the vintage photo booth. We wish you guys the best of luck, but we’re sure you don’t need it!

Krista and Dennis tie the knot at Wayfarers Chapel

Last Friday I photographed the wedding of Krista and Dennis in Rancho Palos Verdes at the Wayfarers Chapel.. It was a gorgeous day for this very laid back couple and I couldn’t have had a better time. Krista is the sister of one of my former brides and I felt so honored to be a part of another Smock family wedding. Dennis, an Irishman, is the nicest guy and a perfect match for Krista! When they look into each other’s eyes you can just feel the love between them. And their families are adorable. Dennis’ dad is hilarious and rocked the reception with some pretty funny Irish jokes. Congrats you two!!!
