Recently, I had the pleasure of photographing Sloane’s Bat Mitzvah at La Boheme in West Hollywood. It was a wonderful night and I was so honored to be involved in such a special day for the family. We had such a great time at the Bat Mitzvah that we thought we should all team up again for a family photo shoot. We met in Malibu and the fun took off from there. Steve, Carrie, Sloane and Jackson are so playful it was easy to capture amazing moments of laughter and love between them. Check out all the fun we had with our Red Loft Studios favorites below…

Yissa & Kevin at the Disney Concert Hall

Over the holiday weekend I met up with Yissa and Kevin at the Disney Concert Hall for part one of our two part engagement photo adventure. Yissa and Kevin are both architects so it seemed only fitting that we use one of downtown LA’s most famous buildings as a backdrop for the photos. We found amazing photo opportunities hidden behind the curves of the building and in the reflections of the metal surfaces. As we roamed the grounds I got to know Yissa and Kevin and hear all of their wonderful wedding plans. I can’t wait until August for their wedding at Wayfarer’s Chapel and then for part two of our engagement adventure in Vegas!

I can’t help it. I just love this photo. It makes me laugh just like Yissa.

Sloane’s Bat Mitzvah Bash

A Bat Mitzvah is a special time in girl’s life when she is officially seen as an adult member of her community. Its a beautiful religious ceremony followed by an amazing party. Recently, I had the pleasure of taking part in Sloane’s Bat Mitzvah at Cafe La Boheme in West Hollywood. Sloane was so impressive as she read from the Torah, sang the blessings and gave a heartfelt speech about service to one’s community. She is such a mature and beautiful person. You could really feel the love in the room for such a special girl.

After the ceremony friend and family were treated to a beyond fabulous party. The already decadent cafe was adorned with candelabras, a hip lounge set up and fun and games for the kids. It was as if the famed Moulin Rouge was transported from Paris just for Sloane. Everyone had a blast indulging in treats and dancing the night away. What an amazing event!

Congratulations to Sloane and her family on this wonderful rite of passage.

Elizabeth and Chad Celebrate at the Korakia in Palm Springs

One of the greatest joys of my job is getting the opportunity to take part in some of the happiest moments in people’s lives. I love seeing the tears, hearing the laughter and especially experiencing in the beauty of the day. Every time I am invited to be part of a wedding I get so excited to see the unique take each couple has on such an old and honored tradition. Elizabeth and Chad’s take on “the big day” was truly cool, completely unique, and amazingly fun. Not even a little rain could dampen the festivities. Guests gathered at the Korakia hotel in Plam Springs for a weekend of celebration. This hip boutique hotel boasts a Moroccan flavor which can be seen in every arched doorway, colorful lantern, and tiled fountain. Liz and Chad took this theme and ran with it, accenting the already stunning details with vintage lounge furniture and and soft candlelight. Their style didn’t stop at the decor. Elizabeth looked stunning in a gorgeous Monique Lhuillier gown while Chad rocked the Chuck Taylors. They are definitely a good looking couple but I have to say that my favorite fashion statement of the day came in the form of a pint sized grey suit and matching newsboy cap donned by the bride and groom’s little one, Cash. Too cute!

The light rain parted just in time for a gospel choir to announce the arrival of Chad’s beautiful bride. Elizabeth and Chad said their “I do’s” in the main courtyard of the hotel flanked by orchids and rose petals. Friends and family surrounded the happy couple as they exchanged vows and shared laughs. The kiss signaled the end of the ceremony and the start of one amazing party. Guests wandered the beautiful property sampling from the many unique food stations as they sipped custom cocktails and grooved to the beats of DJ Kyle Moss. The night was so magical. Congratulations to Elizabeth, Chad and Cash!

Carla & Matt Boogie Down at the Palos Verdes Country Club

Last Saturday I had the pleasure of sharing in the wonderful wedding celebration of Carla and Matt. Friends and family gathered at St. John Fisher church in Palos Verdes for an intimate ceremony and later joined the newlyweds for some serious partying at the Palos Verdes Country Club. It was a gorgeous fall day and we had a blast walking the greens in search for the best photo opportunities. My favorite moments from the day were straight from the heart. Carla’s sister sang an amazing rendition of “Nothing at All” during their first dance and later Carla treated her new husband with a special hula. This is one seriously talented family. The day was so full of love. I am so happy to be part of such a beautiful day. Congratulations Carla and Matt!

My Play Date With Evelyn Grace

» Katie

Last Friday clients Sabrina and Travis invited me over for a play date with their one year old daughter Evelyn Grace and I couldn’t resist sharing some of my favorite moments with you. Evelyn is such a wonderful little girl. She is all smiles and full of curiosity. She delighted in discovering new things during a walk and later we had fun playing with her best friend Eva. I was even treated to a fashion show of Evelyn’s favorite hats and lady bug Halloween costume. I can’t wait to come back for more adventures with Miss Evelyn Grace.
